Meta WhatsApp Cloud API Integration
Connect your Meta WhatsApp Business account to dispatch official invitations and interactive QR ticket passes directly to attendee WhatsApp inboxes.
Meta 1,000 Free Monthly Conversations
Meta provides 1,000 free Service conversations every calendar month for each verified WhatsApp Business Account (WABA). Connecting your Meta Cloud API keys allows WeMeet to dispatch invitations, OTP codes, and dynamic QR ticket passes with $0.00 carrier fees.
1Create App & Configure App Details
Initialize a new Meta application dedicated to event communication:
- Open Meta for Developers > My Apps .
- Click the blue Create App button in the top right.
- Under App details, fill in the project metadata using standard reference values:
Click Next in the bottom right corner to proceed to use cases.
2Select WhatsApp Use Case & Connect Portfolio
- On the Add use cases screen, choose Connect with customers through WhatsApp.
- Connect your Meta Business Portfolio (e.g. your company portfolio or developer portfolio).
- Click Create App to initialize the workspace.
3Configure Production Webhook & Register Number
In the left sidebar, navigate to Basic setup > Step 2. Production setup:

- Click Add new number, enter your dedicated WhatsApp phone number (e.g.
+1... / +94... / +44...). - Set your 6-digit two-factor registration PIN (e.g.
199232). - Toggle ON Subscribe webhooks next to your registered number.
- Click Add payment method to attach billing so Meta enables business-initiated sending.
4App Settings & Publish to Live Mode
By default, Meta keeps new apps in Unpublished (Sandbox) mode. To deliver passes to any attendee phone number worldwide:
- In the left sidebar, open App settings > Basic.
- Fill in the required production compliance fields:
Click Save changes, then click Publish in the left sidebar to switch your app from Unpublished to Live Mode!
5Message Templates & Interactive Buttons
Every Meta WhatsApp account comes with the pre-approved template hello_world in en_US. You can start testing immediately without creating a custom template.
Creating a Branded Event Pass Template:
- Open WhatsApp Manager > Message templates > Click Create Template.
- Category: Marketing (Recommended for instant 100% approval) or Utility.
- Name:

6Generate Permanent System User Token
Standard developer tokens expire after 24 hours. For automated production pass dispatching without token expirations:
- Open Meta Business Settings > System Users .
- Click Add, name the user
WeMeet Gateway, and assign the Admin role. - Under Assigned Assets, grant Full Control to your WhatsApp Business App.
- Click Generate New Token, select your App, and check
whatsapp_business_messagingandwhatsapp_business_management. - Copy the resulting token into your WeMeet Gateway settings.
7Connect in WeMeet & Execute Live Dispatch
In WeMeet, open Events, click the ⚙️ Notification Gateway icon on your event card:
Click "⚡ Test Dispatch" to verify instant delivery of the ticket pass to your WhatsApp!
